The Strasenburgh Model is a theoretical model for describing an object-oriented datacenter using conventional hardware. Designs created using the Strasenburgh Model are business-centric, not hardware-centric, as is the case in most datacenters today. When implemented, it is possible to increase stability, better manage change, and create innovative high-availability designs that scale from a single system to multiple datacenters across the globe.
Metropolis™ is an implementation of the Strasenburgh Model. It is a suite of software products that enable the successful deployment of the Strasenburgh Model in the enterprise.
The product suite has three major components:
- The Metropolis Engine, which describes hardware, services properties and their mappings,
- A replication sub-system, which describes and implements various data replication strategies, and
- A service oriented provisioning system, which allows the imprinting of specific systems to support specific services.
